Campbell released

Miami has terminated the contract of WR Kelly Campbell. The only surprising things about this move are the timing and the high praises that Cam Cameron had for Campbell during minicamps. I expected Campbell to at least compete for the final receiver spot during training camp, but he won't have that opportunity.

The bottom line is that he is the epitome of an injury risk. Dolphins fans really shouldn't feel like they are missing out on much since he hasn't played a down in the past two seasons, and with this most recent release it wouldn't be a stretch to see him out of football for a third straight season. Potential and speed are worthless when you never step foot on a game field.

Az-Zahir Hakim, P.K. Sam, and David Sutton are now the three most likely candidates to win the fifth receiver spot. At this point in time, I'd say Hakim has the best chance to make the roster with Sutton probably landing on the practice squad.

Exactly - I thought everyone was on vacation. Considering his past association with CPep as a member of the Vikings, I wonder whether he was making someone uncomfortable with support for the lame-duck QB. Just a thought. The timing is curious.
